Personalized Leadership Support for IDD Field Leaders

You have the values. You have the vision. But implementing meaningful change—within your team, your organization, or the broader IDD system—rarely follows a straight line.

NLCDD coaching connects you with experienced field leaders who understand your work from the inside out. Because our coaches have spent decades working within IDD systems, they bring a depth of practical knowledge and field-specific insight that general coaching can’t offer. They know what it takes to move the needle in this space, and they’re ready to help you do the same.

What Makes NLCDD Coaching Different

NLCDD coaching is built on the belief that effective leadership in the IDD field requires deep familiarity with the values, tensions, and realities of supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our coaches are thought leaders who have worked at every level of the IDD ecosystem: running organizations, shaping state and national policy, developing direct support programs, and advocating for the rights of people with IDD. They bring field experience, years of insight, and a genuine commitment to advancing the mission you share.

Coaching sessions are strengths-based, action-oriented, and grounded in NLCDD’s systems approach—meaning your coaching isn’t just about you in isolation. We consider your strengths and development needs in the context of your team, your organization, your stakeholders, and the broader systems you’re working within.

Who Coaching Is For

NLCDD coaching is designed for leaders at all professional levels who are committed to creating change for people with IDD.

Leadership in the IDD field is never just about you. When you grow as a leader—building confidence, sharpening your skills, and increasing your effectiveness—that growth ripples outward. Better-led individuals build stronger teams. Stronger teams build better organizations. Better organizations shift the systems and policies that determine how people with IDD live their lives.

Wherever you are in your leadership journey, coaching helps you maximize your impact at every level—starting with you.

Working with Nancy Weiss has been incredibly rewarding as an Executive Director. I can be completely honest about any challenges I am facing, and Nancy consistently supports me with finding practical solutions. The NLCDD coaches are kind, insightful, and genuinely invested in real progress. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking growth and transformation.

How It Works

The coaching process is designed to be both structured and flexible—tailored to your goals, your context, and your pace.

Getting started: A member of the NLCDD team meets with you to learn about your goals, assess your strengths and areas of need, and match you with a coach whose expertise aligns with your focus areas.

Coaching: You and your coach meet regularly over three or six months (or more!) for one-on-one virtual sessions. Your coach listens, provides insight, helps you set meaningful goals, suggests tools and resources, offers feedback, and connects you to a broader leadership network—all grounded in deep IDD field expertise.

Tracking progress: Your coach and the NLCDD team help you track progress toward your goals so you can see the impact of your growth during and beyond your coaching engagement.

Network: Coaching participants are connected to a private NLCDD community of practice—a network of current and past coaching participants and coaches where you can access resources, share strategies, and stay connected long after your coaching concludes.
